About Fordham University

Fordham University is a private 3-campus university, located in and around New York City - Rose Hill in The Bronx, Lincoln Center in Manhattan and Westchester in West Harrison – which is the most populated city in USA, and the center of the New York metropolitan area, one of the most populous metropolitan areas in the world, housing more than 22 million people, within its limits.

Fordham University was founded in 1841, by the Roman Catholic Diocese of New York, as St. John's College, adopting its current name in 1907, 2 years after the law and medical schools were added. The university consists of 4 undergraduate colleges and 6 graduate schools, including the Fordham Graduate School of Social Service and the Fordham School of Law, through which it offers to a number of nearly 8,000 undergraduate students and 7,000 graduate students, various educational programs in numerous fields of study.

The university’s School of Law has been also highly ranked, being named 30th in the nation in the 2010 U.S. News & World Report law school rankings.

Fordham’s athletic teams are known as the Fordham Rams, who compete in 22 men’s and women’s varsity sports, in NCAA’s Division I Atlantic 10 Conference in all sports except football, in which they compete in the Patriot League of NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision, in which they have been the 2002 Patriot League co-champions, capturing the 2007 Patriot League title outright.
